Hey Hey…
As a lot of people know (well close people) I am planning on trying out for Masterchef… The only problem with the next season is I have planned to go to New York City for a month. This would be during some of the filming time which therein lies a problem. So I am therefore waiting until next year to try out… I love to cook. I love to eat.. And I love to be creative with food…
I cook all the time. Mostly desserts or sweet food… I LOVE sweet things, biggest sweet tooth ever! But I also love savoury foods too. Lately I’ve been taking recipes and changing them to suit my tastes or to improve them. I also love coming up with my own recipes. I really want to and have been thinking about it for awhile writing my own cookbook. To share my love of food with other people. I was going to wait and see what happened on Masterchef, but seeing as that won’t be happening this year I’ve decided I’m going to start planning and writing a lot more recipes and then try and get it published!
I thought I would start off by answering the application questions (well most of them) that they ask for when you apply to be on Masterchef! So they are below;
PERSONAL
- What is your living situation At home still. So that I can travel whenever I want and I don’t have to pay rent! Always a big plus..
- Do you have any Siblings / Children / Grandchildren I have two younger sisters..
- Where did you grow up I grew up in a couple of places. Dalby and the Sunshine Coast
- What is the highest level of education you received & what schools did you attend Ii have a Yr 12 Certificate and a Cert III in Music…. Suncoast Christian College yrs 10, 11, 12, Homeschooled part yr 8, 9, Sunshine Coast Grammar School yrs 5, 6, 7, part 8, Dalby State School yrs 2, 3, 4, Bowen Public School Orange yr Kindergarten (classified as yr 1)
- Where do you work, have you always done this, do you like your job I work in a newsagency. I have worked in newsagency’s over a number of years since leaving school. I really like my current job!
- What other hobbies do you have Cooking, Singing, Dancing, Acting, playing sports like Netball & Oz Tag
- What is your greatest ambition in life To sell cookbooks that people from all ages can use and create wonderful food with. There are also some amazing chefs that I would LOVE to meet and do work experience with! To also be a food writer.
- What has been your greatest achievement in life so far Travelling. Not that, that is necessarily an achievement, but it has opened my eyes so much to the world around us. The different foods, places, cultures. It all just grabs me. If I could I would spend my whole life travelling and eating different foods experiencing it all. On another note finishing school, those definitely weren’t the best years of my life.
- Where and what would you like to be in five years time Travelling the world writing about food, experiencing numerous cuisines. Writing another cookbook on all my travels and different foods I have experienced that the home cook could then cook. I would also liek to have released a cookbook for kids.
- What has been the most difficult thing in your life so far Finishing school! For me school was not easy I hated it, it was my idea of hell. I couldn’t and still don’t understand people who say school years are the best of your life. For people who think that I think you haven’t lived, haven’t experienced the world for what it is. School got so bad for me at one stage that I ended up doing homeschooling for a year and a half.
- Have you ever had an apprehended violence order placed against you No
- Have you ever served time in prison or a correctional facility No
- Have you ever been arrested OR charged with OR convicted of any crime No
- Have you ever had an adverse finding against you which may have resulted in any type of fine, penalty or restriction by a court in civil cases, or any body of tribunal, regulatory authority No
- Are you currently a party to any court or tribunal proceedings for any type of civil or criminal matter which remain outstanding or unresolved No
- Is there any part of your like that could cause embarrassment to yourself, your family or Masterchef if made public No
- If chosen to be on the program, is there any personal part of your life that you would prefer not to share on camera No
- Are you prepared to be isolated/apart from your family and friends for up to 7 months Yes
- Are you prepared to be away from your employment for up to 7 months Yes
- How would someone who really knows you describe your BEST qualities Great Personality, Hard Worker, Outgoing, Funny (which I don’t see. I do always seem to make people laugh), Accident prone especially when it comes to stairs!
- How would someone who really knows you describe your WORST qualities Loud, I talk a lot. I can be stubborn sometimes.
- What personality traits annoy you I’m a perfectionist. I hate getting things wrong, or not working out how I envisioned it. That if something is going to go wrong, or someone’s going to get injured it will happen to me!
- Do you hold a current passport Yes
- Have you ever acted, performed or appeared on television or film before No, I have done a couple of screen tests when I had an agent.
- What other reality/game shows have you applied for or been on none
- Are you currently being considered for any other reality TV shows, including game contestant shows no
- How love have you been cooking for As long as I can remember ever since I was young I always wanted to help mum out in the kitchen. So probably from 8yrs at the latest.
- Who taught you to cook, what is your first memory of cooking My mum was the person who taught me to cook. Pancakes, was one of the first things I would cook on my own! And to this day I still love them except I tend to make a crepe instead as it’s much lighter and more versatile
- Why do you want to change your life to become a professional in the food industry Its chefs like Heston, Adriano, Jamie & Nigella who have inspired me in the last few years more so than others. Every chef has their own unique style. I have always loved cooking and people have suggested I make something of it. So I figured why not try! Everything happens for a reason. I also LOVE food. If I could eat all day I would.
- Please tell us the moment you realised cooking was what you wanted to do and you fell in love with food Growing up every second year we would have a “Young” Christmas where everyone on my dad’s side of the family would get together for a week or two and we would spend a lot of time together. But on Christmas day everyone would bring a meal and we would sit around eating. In the morning I would help mum get the stuffing and everything ready for the Turkey before heading to one of my Uncles units to make Lobsters. Every year something would go wrong with Mornay sauce, or it would look like it was separating, but every year it turned out perfect and I wouldn’t change a thing that happened! It’s my favourite seafood and on those Christmas’s it was my favourite food. The first year I helped with the lobster I fell in love with cooking even more because the smells of the kitchen and then eating the food that you love, but everyone else enjoys makes all the difference in the world and the memories of something not going to work out and then does is great!
- What is the hardest cooking situation you have ever been in When my parents renovated our house years ago we didn’t have a stove, microwave or anything for a period of time whilst the kitchen was being redone. All we had to cook with was this electric pan that hooked into the wall. It was very interesting to put it lightly!
- How do you see your cooking ability progressing over the next 5 years I see it progressing immensely I don’t think you ever stop learning, new techniques, new food styles. I want to grasp everything I can learn from professionals, from trial and error. There couldn’t be a better way to have your cooking progress or improve. I don’t think I’ll ever say I can’t learn anymore from cooking as it’s something that is always changing.
- What do you hope to achieve by entering Masterchef I hope to achieve my goal of learning enough, experiencing enough to write my own cookbook. I want to learn as much as I can about food and the different ways to cook create and plate. I have learned so much through watching the show; being able to experience it firsthand would be an experience of a lifetime!
- Have you ever imagined owning your own restaurant No, because I don’t think I have enough knowledge as this stage to do that. And I would prefer to own a patisserie than a restaurant as such.
- Have you ever cooked professionally before No
- Do you have any professional cooking qualifications No
- Have you worked in a professional kitchen in any capacity whatsoever, at any time No
- Have you ever taken any cooking courses, if so, what, when where Yes during school I did home economics for 2 years
- Who eats your food and what do they think of it Everyone eats my food and loves it. Whenever we have people over I make at least one or two dishes every time if not all of them. I always make desserts as they are my favourite thing to cook and eat. I make sure people especially my family critique it as it’s the only way to learn how to improve next time, or what changes you could make to create a whole other dish/meal.
- What is your favourite restaurant and why that is easy! My favourite restaurant would have to be this Teppanyaki place called Hatsuhana at Sea World Nara Resort we go every time we stay on the Gold Coast. We have been there enough times the head chef knows us now. We choose what food we want and then it’s all cooked in front of you, with the chef doing different tricks with all the utensils. The food isn’t only amazing, but great entertainment too.
- Why should we choose you You should choose me, because I have a real passion for food, I love learning new tricks, cooking styles, trying new things. I would also love to be chosen to see how far I can go. I would love to make it to the top 24, but even if I only make it to the top 100 or top 200 I know I will learn things in those few challenges that decide the top group for the season. I’m also a great character so if you want someone who loves to have fun, and is always up for a challenge look no further.
So if you want anything else answered let me know. That’s all for now! There was lots to answer..
If you also have any thoughts on any of my answers type away.
